The Lower Mainland Bengali Cultural Society of BC was incepted in 1979 by a small group of Bengalis, many of whom are still part of the club today.  After more than 25 years of existence our community still strives for many of the same goals that were first set out by our founding members.

We endeavour to preserve Bengali culture but also to define it for the younger generation as we live in today's multicultural Canada.  As our culture mixes with the ones around us we look to interact with different communities and share our respective ways of life.

Bengali culture is one that is rich with literature and fine arts.  We are great thinkers and most probably invented the art of adha mara (conversing at great lengths).  Our club wishes to celebrate our rich past and combine it with the never ending cultural stimulus we see around us today.
