In West Bengal, Durga Puja is always followed by Bijoya Sammelan.  A tourist would be hard pressed to not see men touching cheek to cheek and uttering "Shubo Bijoya" under their breaths shortly after Durga Puja.  Bijoy in Kolkata is celebrated through various cultural programs that are hosted by different neighbourhoods throughout the city.  The cultural events range from hosting singers and dancers from local families to hosting famous Indian singers and musicians on elaborate stages.

The LMBCS also likes to celebrate Bijoya after the members have worked hard for Durga Puja.  Our Bijoy is usually celebrated in a community theatre and talent from our community is highlighted.  Once in a while we will bring in an Indian artist who is visiting North America, but that is a rarity.  Our members enjoy watching other members of the community perform; especially the younger children.

Performances range from group songs to full blown plays.  Fun is had by all and dinner is savoured by everyone.
